The champagne and glasses arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Care had been taken to ensure the safe arrival, with plenty of air-inflated packaging to help protect the bottle and glasses. It was good to see that all the packaging used is made of 100% recyclable materials – both the cardboard and plastic
My husband and I saved the champagne to help celebrate his sixtieth birthday which we spent in the Lake District touring in our camper van. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind, in fact it was blowing a blizzard, so we were unable to sit outside to enjoy the view with our glass of Bollinger Rose Champagne but we had to sit inside the van enjoying the view from the window instead.
I liked the classy and reassuringly weighty champagne bottle. The design of the two glasses exuded quality with the Bollinger Champagne embossed in a stylish font on the side. The glass size and shape, the delicate stem, and the excellent craftsmanship of the glasses aided the overall drinking experience. The Bollinger Champagne printed on the side of the glass made them a lovely keepsake and they were very neatly presented in a box.
I have to say I wouldn’t normally choose a Rose, but I really enjoyed the unusual flavours. I read to expect a smell of red currant, cherry and wild strawberry. I thought the delicate fragrance had a subtle fruitiness with the strawberry aroma coming through most strongly. As for the taste, I read to expect a flavour of wild berries. I could certainly get the wild berry taste but also a hint of spice. It was silky smooth and easy to drink. It was definitely a pleasure to drink and savour the taste. The champagne has a lovely coral pinky sheen, with lovely vibrant and delicate bubbles - what’s not to like. I think I may be converted.
This would be a great champagne to serve on any special occasion and champagne is of course the ultimate celebration drink. We enjoyed the champagne with a dish of smoked salmon and avocado salad and it seemed to go well and complement the dish. However, I would expect this champagne to be just as good paired with sweet dishes, it would make any dish a special occasion. I think the price is justified for a label that assures quality and distinction – and it is also a safe choice if buying for a special occasion. I would highly recommend Bollinger Rose Champagne either for that special occasion, as a perfect gift for a friend, or even perhaps a well-deserved gift for yourself!
