Firstly, I must admit I can iron a shirt for a fortnight and every time I turn it over the creases have moved to the reverse side, so I was dependant on my wife for this review.
We have had steam irons before, but none as expensive as this, but it is clearly worth the money.
It is very clever in that it automatically regulates the temperature. No tuning knobs or changing settings. It has an intelligent sensor that varies the steam according to the temperature. They state that it is so accurate that you can use it on any fabric ranging from jeans all the way up to silk.
The water tank is 1.8 litres which I think is much bigger than most and it is easy to detach the water tank refill and put it back. You can see the level as you iron and remove and refill it as you go along if necessary.
Not sure how quickly other irons heat up, but this one generates steam within 2 minutes. Once you turn it on, you can start ironing the clothes right away.
Not being an expert on these irons I was taken aback by the size, then realised that is just the base it sits on the iron itself is light weight so easy to manoeuvre, which also gives you access to every bit of the item you are ironing.
I can only take Phillips word for it they say it can eliminate 99.9% of the bacteria and you can sanitize clothes as well. We don’t have limescale where I live, but they advise that it has a descaling feature. The descaling feature removes all the impurities from the water. Due to this reason, the steam holes do not get blocked.
I can’t find any fault with it. We got the blue model, there are 5 colour options. My wife used to iron everything but had started hanging washing in a fashion that would allow her to just fold it and put it away. She is now back ironing everything. That probably says it all ! Maybe I should try ironing with this or maybe I should continue to hide behind the notion that I can’t iron without leaving creases.
