Testers Keepers: Wimbledon Championship Towel 2024 review by Sheila Williams

Posted on 21 July 2024

Having first used Christy towels for their quality and colour range in 1974 when I first married, I was keen to see how the product has changed over the last fifty years.

I am still loving the quality and softness, the purple trim denotes luxury together with the green and purple (two of my favourite colours) colour scheme and the recyclable packaging gives all the information to further promote the products regard for the environment whilst continuing to produce excellent product. I was disappointed however on reading the label on the towel itself that it was made in India!

This also means I can proudly show of my Wimbledon 2024 Towel whilst trying out and hopefully enjoying a new sport, rather than just using it myself at home, or having to decide which of my three grandchildren (aged 8, 10 and 15 who all enjoy sport) I should possible give the towel to, come the new school year in September, so that tennis gets further recognition as a sport to definitely be considered.

Now that I have washed the towel for the first time, on its own (in case of any colour run) and on a 40 degree wash as advised I can confirm that the towel has not lost any of its quality and softness if anything it has increased as expected being a benefit of HygroCotton. I could not believe how dry the towel felt compared to my usual towels when I took it out of the washer, it also felt really soft, not like my other towels at all. Just need to wait and see if the towel dries quicker and becomes even softer the more times it is washed. I will continue to wash the towel without the use of fabric softener or possibly a very small amount if not washed on its own. Might even mean my grandchildren do not get a look in (as I was considering letting my two granddaughters have the towel as they do a lot of sports) if this product continues to get softer and more luxurious with use. It is going to be a close won match to keep or not to keep I feel.  But the towel will be seen a lot more and its qualities commented on by others, if I let the girls share it for use outside of their home when doing sport of various types, not tennis as yet (other than in school holidays) as they still at Primary school.
